This is the largest gift in the history of the United States for community college students. It is extremely exciting because it will go toward $1,000 scholarships for community college students to go on into community college. We all know that we're having some budgetary concerns right now, so there will be literally thousands of students that will be benefiting from this very, very generous gift from the Oshers.

Thanks to a partnership of public and non-profit organizations, a precious jewel of California's coast is being restored to its natural habitat. This week, a major clean-up project on Santa Cruz Island is being completed, accelerating an ambitious restoration project led by The Nature Conservancy and supported by the National Park Service and the California Integrated Waste Management Board.

It's great to celebrate here with the Governor, who has come on board to support Donate Life California. The month of April was national Donate Life Month and we're encouraging people to go online to donatelifecalfiornia.org and sign up to donate organs. We have 20,000 people waiting in California alone for organ transplants -- it only takes a moment to save a life.

The Governor came and talked to us about his leadership in Proposition 69, how proud he has been to partner with us in this area, because through DNA we are solving old cases, we are bringing violent criminals to justice and we are making our communities safer as well.

We're here today on the historic Irvine Ranch in southern Orange County to celebrate Earth Day. What the Irvine Ranch Company has done here on this 50,000 acre reserve, to preserve this very, very valuable landscape, the diversity of this landscape and the Mediterranean climate that we enjoy here in California, is the epitome of Earth Day. It's an historic day.

Today is an historic day for the global fight against climate change. On Earth Day, in one of the fastest growing economies in the world, I had the honor to sign a climate agreement with the United Nations Develoment Programme. As part of the UNDP's ongoing work with the Chinese government, California has been asked to provide a climate program model to Chinese provincial governments.
