We're delighted that the Governor came here today and presented us with a $500,000 grant to serve recently separated veterans. This kind of funding is critical, because these funds will allow us to connect veterans to high-wage, high-growth jobs.

66 years ago, President Franklin Roosevelt addressed the nation in a short 10-minute radio address, in response to the savage unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, December 7th, 1941. Now, as we honor Pearl Harbor survivors and all World War II veterans on this day, we are reminded that so many have sacrificed so much for all of us to live in this great country of freedom and opportunity.

As we celebrate Veterans Day across California, we are reminded of the tremendous sacrifice that members of our armed forces have made around the world. As these wounded service men and women return home to California, many seek to rebuild their lives by becoming business owners in the Golden State.

I've been working here at the hospital for almost 20 years, and seeing if we could get a veterans home and once Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger came in, we saw some action. And he's a man of action, and I think that we've seen it, and today is the fruition for that program, and I'm very proud to be here.

We're having the third of five groundbreaking ceremonies for new California Veterans Homes. When the Governor took office he said this is a priority for our state's veterans and now we have, in fact, a number one priority in the country for veterans homes. It's a great milestone for veterans all over California.
