We were just thrilled with the visit of Governor Schwarzenegger to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. The Olympics has three U.S. training centers, one of which is in California and part of what we've done at the Center is to create a partnership with schoolchildren, community, and the Olympic athletes. Being able to emphasize the Governor's interest in fitness and in vitality really pulled it all together for us.

We're completely honored to have the President and the Governor here today to get a briefing on the fires that have occurred in California over the last four weeks. After the briefing we're going to overfly some of the fires in the Redding area, also the National Guard base where we have the helicopters that have been fighting the fires in this area, and take a look at the Martin Mars on Shasta Lake.

I'd like to thank the Governor for the California School Finder website. It's a great way for parents to navigate through the difficult choices they have to make regarding their child's education. This is a chance for them to look at the after school programs, and the physical education and extracurricular programs, to make better decisions on how to choose a good school.

I'd like to thank the Governor for signing this bill today. SB 15721 will entitle another 1,300 veterans in California each year the opportunity to own their own home. I think we need to pass this bill on to the public and have them pass it, so that our veterans will have that opportunity to get the American Dream, their own home.

We here at NASA Ames Center are really proud to have hosted the Governor today. We are able to study climate change, and other critical long-term problems facing us, but over the last few years we've worked with the State and with the Forestry Service and others to be able to modify this unmanned aircraft so that it can see through the smoke and help the firefighters be more effective to save lives and save land.

It was so great to announce today that Governor Schwarzenegger and Secretary Belshé and the California Department of Health have joined with every major film studio along with the Entertainment Industry Foundation to place anti-smoking DVDs from this state on youth-rated videos. It will grow over the years to really save lives and to encourage children to not start smoking and to help those who do to quit.
