Governor Schwarzenegger Announces Appointments
Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger today announced the following
appointments:
Gregory J. Ahern, 50, of Livermore, has been appointed to the California
Emergency Council. He has been employed by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office
for 28 years. Since 2007, Ahern has served as the sheriff of Alameda County. In 2006, he served as assistant
sheriff for the Detention and Corrections Division and the Law Enforcement
Services Division and, in 2005, Ahern served as commander of the Detention and
Corrections Division. He served as captain at the Eden Township Substation in
San Leandro from
2003 to 2005, lieutenant of investigations from 2000 to 2003 and lieutenant
assigned to patrol in 2000. From 1998 to 2000, Ahern worked as the persons'
investigator for Dublin Police Services and, from 1988 to 1998, he worked as a
patrol sergeant and as a narcotics investigator. From 1986 to 1988, Ahern was a
sergeant to the Detention and Corrections Division at the Santa Rita Jail and
the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility. From 1982 to 1986, he worked as a patrol
deputy for Dublin Police Services and, from 1981 to 1982, Ahern was assigned to
training patrol at the Eden Township Substation at the Santa Rita Jail.
Additionally, he worked as the maximum security entry control deputy at the
Greystone Maximum Security Unit, was assigned to the security unit at the
Oakland Courthouse Jail and was a courtroom bailiff at the Oakland Courthouse
Jail. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary.
Ahern is a Republican.
Adele Arnold, 56, of Yreka, has been appointed to the
Corrections Standards Authority. She has worked for the Siskiyou County
Probation Department since 1991 and currently serves as the chief probation
officer, a position she's held since 2003. Arnold previously served as assistant chief
probation officer from 2001 to 2003 and supervising probation officer from 1998
to 2001. From 1984 to 1991, she was the lead court officer of the Siskiyou
County Department of Adult and Children's Services. Arnold is an active member of the American Probation and
Parole Association, American Correctional Association and Chief Probation
Officers of California. This position requires Senate
confirmation and there is no salary. Arnold is a
Democrat.
Carol Biondi, 64, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the
Corrections Standards Authority. She has served on the board since 2006 and is a
member of the State Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention. Since 2005, Biondi has been a board member of the Loyola Law School
Center for Juvenile Law and
Policy and, since 2002, she has been a board member of Homeboy Industries. Since
2000, Biondi has served as an advisor to the Los Angeles Conservation Corps and,
since 1999, she has been a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Commission
for Children and Families. Since 1997, Biondi has been a board member of the
United Friends of the Children, and since 1995, she has been a board member of
the Children's Defense Fund. From 1975 to 2000, Biondi served on the Leake and
Watts Child Care Agency Board of Directors and, from 1966 to 1975, she held
various positions with ABC News. In 1965, she worked as the scheduling secretary
for the Charles Percy Senatorial Campaign. This position requires Senate
confirmation and there is no salary. Biondi is a Democrat.
Collene Campbell, 75, of San Juan Capistrano, has been appointed to the
Corrections Standards Authority. She is the founder of Memory of Victims
Everywhere serving as president since 1989. Campbell is also Founder and National Chair of
Force 100. From 1992 to 2002, she served on the San Juan Capistrano City Council
and was the first female mayor of the city from 1993 to 1994 and again from 1999
to 2000. From 1988 to 1994, Campbell served as chair of the Mickey Thompson
Entertainment Group and, from 1964 to 1984, was president and chief executive
officer of Rapid Pace Incorporated, a California-based motor racing marketing
company. From 1983 to 1986, she was co-chair of the Crime Victims Justice Reform
Act. Campbell
serves on the Board for the U.S. Dept. of Justice National Institute of
Corrections and is on the California Peace Officer Standards and Training
Commission. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no salary.
Campbell is a
Republican.
Raymond Ceragioli, 75, of Rancho Palos Verdes, has been appointed to the
State Council on Developmental Disabilities. Prior to retiring, he was a sole
practitioner in the Law Offices of Raymond Ceragioli from 1975 to 1997. From
1960 to 1975, he was a partner with the law firm Cardenas and Ceragioli.
Ceragioli is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served for two years as an
active duty officer, and twelve years as an active duty reserve. This position
does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem.
Ceragioli is registered decline-to-state.
John Ingrassia, 41, of El Cajon, has been appointed to the Corrections
Standard Authority. He has worked for the San Diego County Sheriff's
Department since 1993 and currently serves as a sheriff's commander, a position
he's held since April 2008. Ingrassia previously served as sheriff's captain
from 2004 to 2008, sheriff's lieutenant from 2002 to 2004 and sheriff's sergeant
from 1993 to 2002 for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. He is a member
of the San Diego County Deputy Sheriff's Association, Southern California Jail
Managers Association and FBI National Academy Alumni Association. This position
requires Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Ingrassia is a Republican.
Steven Marshall, 41, of Wilton, has been appointed to the Corrections
Standards Authority. He has worked for the California Department of Corrections
as a parole agent II in Sacramento since 2006, parole agent I for the
Stockton Parole Unit #2 from 2000 to 2006, correctional sergeant at Mule Creek
State Prison from 1998 to 2000 and correctional officer Mule Creek State Prison
from 1990 to 1998. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no
salary. Marshall
is a Republican.
Gary Penrod, 60, of Yucaipa, has been appointed to the Corrections Standards
Authority. Since 1995, he has served as sheriff for San Bernardino County. Penrod has been with the San
Bernardino Sheriff's Office since 1971. This position requires Senate
confirmation and there is no salary. Penrod is a Republican.
Steven PonTell, 47, of Ontario, has been appointed to the Santa Ana
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Region 8. Since 2007, he has owned Sierra
Wholesale Hardware. Since 2004, PonTell has been chairman of Western Holding
Board of Directors and a managing member of New West Ventures. Additionally, he
has been the chief executive officer for the De Oro Group/AJS since 2000,
managing partner of Pine Knot Landing since 1999 and president of La Jolla
Institute since 1995. From 1995 to 1999, PonTell was a partner for @ Work
Consulting and, from 1989 to 1994, he was president and chief executive officer
of the Inland Empire Economic Council. He was president and chief executive
officer of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce from 1987 to 1989 and the Big Bear
Chamber of Commerce from 1985 to 1987 and was an assistant to the city manager
for the city of Big Bear Lake from 1983 to 1985. PonTell is member of the American
Planning Association and the San Bernardino National Forest/Big Bear Discovery
Center. He is a member of the board of the Children's Fund of San Bernardino
County and the Casa Colina
Centers for Rehabilitation
Foundation. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is
$100 per diem. PonTell is a Republican.
Ted Puntillo, 61, of Davis, has been appointed as deputy secretary
for veteran services for the California Department of Veterans Affairs. Since
2002, he has served as a veteran's service officer for Yolo County Veteran's
Service Office. From 2002 to 2006, Puntillo served on the Davis City Council
and, from 1969 to 2001, he worked in a variety of positions for the U.S. Postal
Service. Puntillo served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. The position does
not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $110,580. Puntillo is a
Democrat.
George "Willie" West, 25, of Ukiah has been appointed to
the State Council on Developmental Disabilities. He has been a website
coordinator and consultant for NorCalDisability.com since 2006. West has worked
as a customer service representative for Detail Plus, a production assistant for
Speedy Signs and a customer service representative for Sonoma Sweepers since
2005. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as an assistant clerk with Mendocino County
Social Services and was shipping and receiving assistant with the Ukiah Valley Medical Center. This position does not require
Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. West is registered
decline-to-state.
