Governor Schwarzenegger Appoints Victoria Bradshaw as Deputy Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointment of Victoria Bradshaw as Deputy Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary.

"Throughout her career, Vickie has shown extraordinary leadership and commitment to the people of California," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "She is an exceptional public servant and her economic expertise and prior experience in state government will greatly add to the dynamic of my administration. I look forward to working with her to protect the interests of all Californians and to continue implementing innovative policies for our state."

Bradshaw has served as secretary for the Labor and Workforce Development Agency since 2004 and served as undersecretary and acting secretary from 2003 to 2004. While at the agency, she has addressed issues regarding labor law and workplace safety enforcement, workers' compensation insurance, workforce development, economic development and issues related to displaced workers since November 2003. Previously, Bradshaw served as a member of the Occupational and Health Standards Board. She served as executive director of the Employment Training Panel from 1999 to 2001 where she was responsible for statewide economic development and training programs focused on making California businesses more competitive. Bradshaw's public sector experience also includes a year as deputy chief of staff and cabinet secretary to Governor Pete Wilson, in addition to serving as director of the Employment Development Department and state labor commissioner. Prior to serving in state government, she served as the corporate vice president of human resources for the BATUS Retail Group, which operated in 35 states with over 50,000 total employees.

"It is a true honor to be asked to continue to serve in this administration," said Bradshaw. "I look forward to working with the Governor in this new capacity and am excited to build on existing policies that will continue to strengthen our economy, protect our environment and improve the lives of all Californians."

Bradshaw, 59, earned a Masters degree in Public Administration from California State University, Sacramento and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis. This position does not require Senate confirmation and Bradshaw will voluntarily take a pay reduction to $147,900. Bradshaw is a Republican.

The cabinet secretary is a direct liaison between the governor and cabinet members, including all agency directors and department directors.

Governor Schwarzenegger also announced the departure of Deputy Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Dan Dunmoyer and thanked him for his service.

"For the past three years, Dan has helped me accomplish great things for the people of California," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "Regardless of the issue, Dan consistently worked to create and implement policies that provided real solutions for our state. He is a dedicated public servant and he will be missed. I join my staff in thanking Dan for his service and wish him the best in all of his future endeavors."

Upon his departure, Dunmoyer said:

"While I have had the privilege of serving in numerous government and private sector positions, nothing has challenged me more or given me more personal satisfaction than the time I've worked in this administration. The Governor has forever changed the political landscape in Sacramento and I am proud to say that I was a part of that effort. The past three years have been incredibly rewarding and I look forward to spending more time with my family."
