Recovery Task Force Issues Statement on Federal High-Speed Rail Applications Guidelines Released Today

California Recovery Task Force head Cynthia Bryant issued
the following statement after U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today issued
the guidelines for states and regions to apply for American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funding designated for high-speed rail.
"After initial review of federal guidelines and under the
leadership of Governor Schwarzenegger, we believe California is very well
positioned to aggressively compete for billions in Recovery Act funding
designated for high-speed rail. California voters have approved over $9 billion
in state bond funding for high-speed rail, we are more advanced than any other
state in the nation in planning and have already legislatively cleared the way
for public private partnership authority in this area."
