Governor Schwarzenegger Announces Appointments
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the following
appointments:
Kelly
Dyer Burt, 50, of Poway, has been appointed to
the State Race Track Leasing Commission.
Since 2001, he has served as chairman and chief executive officer of
Price Self Storage Holdings. Prior to
that, he was director and executive vice president of Price Legacy Corporation
from 1998 to 2001 and owned and was president of TenantFirst Real Estate
Services, Incorporated from 1992 to 1998. From 1984 to 1992, Burt worked for
Trammell Crow Company, in their San Diego office
as a division partner from 1991 to 1992, an industrial division partner from
1985 to 1991 and in their Mexico
office as a national partner from 1987 to 1992.
Additionally, from 1984 to 1985, he worked for Banker's Trust in Los Angeles as assistant
vice president. Burt currently serves as
president of the San Diego County Fair Board of Directors. He also is a member
of the advisory board of Scripps
Green Hospital
and the board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This position does not require Senate
confirmation and there is no salary.
Burt is a Republican.
James Butler, 43, of Roseburg,
OR, has been appointed chief
procurement officer for the Department of General Services. From 2002 to December
2007, he served as director of procurement services for Levi Strauss &
Company. Prior to that, Butler
founded and served as president for The OPS Group from 2001 to 2002. From
1996 to 2001, he worked for the Dell Computer Corporation in various management
positions including senior manager of enterprise resources planning systems and
senior manager of indirect procurement. Butler also served as a
manager of client support for Asia Pacific Ventures from 1993 to 1996.
This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is
$149,500. Butler
is a Republican.
Brittany
Chord, 23, of Redding, has been
appointed assistant press secretary for the Office of the Governor. Most recently, she served as a legal
assistant in the Office of Legal Affairs for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
from 2007 to 2008. Prior to that, Chord
served as a communications intern for Californians for Schwarzenegger
2006. She earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Government-Journalism from California
State University,
Sacramento. This position does not require Senate
confirmation and the compensation is $40,000. Chord is a Republican.
Michael Rogowski, 42, of Sacramento, has been appointed executive
assistant to the undersecretary of programs for the California Department of
Corrections and Rehabilitation. Since 2006, he has served as an administrative
assistant in the Office of Planning and Research for Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger. From 2003 to 2005, Rogowski served as executive assistant to
Sacramento Vice Mayor Sandy Sheedy. From 2001 to 2003, he served as
confidential secretary for Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo and, from 1999 to
2001, served as confidential secretary for Sacramento City Councilmember
Heather Fargo. From 1998 to 1999, he was an events coordinator for the city of Sacramento and, from 1994
to 1998, he was a field events representative for the Sacramento City Manager's
Office. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation
is $42,384. Rogowski is a Democrat.
Susan Ronnback, 50, of Sacramento,
has been appointed chief of staff for the Office of the Secretary for
Education. Since 2003, she served as chief policy advisor to State
Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell. From 2000 to 2002,
Ronnback worked for former California State Senator Steve Peace as the K-12 education
consultant for the State Senate's Budget and Fiscal Review Committee. Prior to
that, she worked for Senator Peace as a legislative consultant from 1994 to
2000, associate staff consultant from 1984 to 1988, and district representative
from 1982 to 1988. From 1988 to 1991, she was an associate staff
consultant for California State Assemblymember Jack O'Connell. This position does not require Senate
confirmation and the compensation is $108,636. Ronnback is a Democrat.
Rayne Thompson, 32, of West Sacramento,
was appointed deputy secretary for legislation and policy for the Department of
Food and Agriculture. Since 2004, she
has served as director of international trade and plant health for the
California Farm Bureau Federation. From
2001 to 2004, Thompson was the director of government affairs for the
Agricultural Council of California. From
1999 to 2000, she was a project manager for Convergent Communications and, from
1998 to 1999, she was an assistant account executive for Opus Creative
Group. Thompson is a member of Wonder
Incorporated. This position does not
require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100,428. Thompson is a Democrat.
