Governor Schwarzenegger Announces Appointments
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the
following appointments:
Camille Anderson, 28, of Sacramento, has
been appointed deputy press secretary in the Office of the Governor. She most
recently worked as a contractor for Randle Communications from 2007 to April
2008. From 2006 to 2007, Anderson served as regional press secretary for the
Republican National Committee, acting as spokesperson for media in the Southeast
and Western regions of the U.S. and working with Bob Corker's successful U.S.
Senate campaign in Tennessee. Previously, from 2004 to 2006, she served as
Republican Party of Florida communications director, U.S. Department of Labor
media liaison and as the California communications director for the 2004
Bush-Cheney campaign. Anderson graduated from Syracuse University with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations. This position does not require
Senate confirmation and the compensation is $80,000. Anderson is a
Republican.
Dorsey Griffith, 46, of Sacramento, has been appointed
assistant director of communications for the Department of Developmental
Services. Since 1994, she has been a reporter at The Sacramento Bee and currently covers
the medical field. Previously, Griffith was a reporter covering health and
human services for The Modesto
Bee from 1990 to 1994 and copy editor and on-call metro editor for
The Modesto Bee's zoned edition,
The Manteca Bee, in 1994. From
1989 to 1990, she was as a religion and feature writer for The Modesto Bee. This position does not
require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $101,340. Griffith is a
Democrat.
Jennifer Johnson, 34, of San Francisco, has been
appointed education policy consultant for the State Board of Education. Most
recently, she worked as external affairs project manager for the Oakland Unified
School District from 2007 to February 2008. From 2006 to 2007, Johnson was a
consultant for the law firm Cannata, Ching & O'Toole and, from 2005 to 2006,
was a substitute teacher for the Marysville Joint Unified School District. Prior
to that, she served as a consultant for the California Department of Education
from 2004 to 2005 and, from 2003 to 2004, was a government affairs
representative and executive fellow for the state superintendent of public
instruction, Jack O'Connell. In 2003, she served as a law clerk for the San
Francisco Unified School District focusing on special education. This position
does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $83,064. Johnson is
a Democrat.
Brett Morgan, 47, of Elk Grove, has been appointed chief
of staff for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Since
2004, he has served as chief deputy inspector general for the Office of the
Inspector General. From 1999 to 2004, Morgan served as a deputy attorney
general for the California Department of Justice and, from 1989 to 1998, served
as a deputy district attorney for the Sacramento County District Attorney's
Office. From 1987 to 1989, he worked as a law clerk and an associate in the Law
Office of James Lewis. This position does not require Senate confirmation and
the compensation is $174,636. Morgan is a Republican.
Kearsten Shepherd, 28, of Sacramento, has been appointed
assistant secretary for planning and communications for the Office of the
Secretary for Education. Since 2005, she has served in various capacities for
the California Restaurant Association and currently holds the position of
director of press and public relations. Prior to that, Shepherd served as media
relations deputy and web writer for the California Chamber of Commerce from 2004
to 2005. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the
compensation is $62,500. Shepherd is registered as decline-to-state.
