California For All Kids is about putting children on a path to a healthier future by focusing on their minds, bodies, and environments. The First Partner’s office is raising awareness about the importance of the food we eat, the time we spend outdoors, and the relationships we have — both with the people around us and the screens in front of us — for our children’s overall health and well-being. Together, we can ensure that every California kid has access to the bounty of our beautiful state and the opportunity to realize their full potential.
California Farm to School
The Office of the First Partner is working alongside the California Department of Food and Agriculture to develop innovative farm to school programming and expand access to healthy foods in California schools. The First Partner is focused on ensuring that California kids have access to farm fresh, nutritious meals – all while supporting California farmers in building a more sustainable future.
Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Wellbeing
The First Partner co-chairs the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Wellbeing alongside Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Lott. The Council, which includes representatives from health and wellness organizations, youth sports programs, education, the fitness industry, and other experts on physical and mental health, provides guidance on California’s physical activity and wellness and works to promote equitable access to outdoor and physical activity for underserved California communities.
Outdoor Access for All
Through the Outdoor Access for All initiative, California First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom is working to build a healthier and more equitable California for all kids. Quality time in nature is great for kids’ bodies, minds, and hearts, and no state is better-positioned than California to leverage the great outdoors to augment children’s health and well-being — especially for youth in underserved communities.
California Youth Mental Health Resources
California’s Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative aims to reimagine mental health and emotional well-being for ALL children, youth, and families in California by delivering equitable, appropriate, timely and accessible behavioral health services and support, including FREE Youth Mental Health Resources.

Social Emotional Learning
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for success in school, work, and life. In 2020, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, and State Board of Education President Linda Darling-Hammond launched the Advance SEL in California Campaign.
