Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Ken DaRosa, 46, of Sacramento, has been appointed chief deputy director at the California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle). DaRosa has served in multiple postions at the California Department of Finance since 2004, including program budget manager, assistant program budget manager, principal program budget analyst and staff finance analyst. DaRosa served at the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs as staff services manager from 2001 to 2004 and associate governmental program analyst from 1996 to 2001. DaRosa earned a Master of Arts degree in literature at California State University, Sacramento. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $132,936. DaRosa is registered as decline-to-state.

Jo Peterson, 60, of Fort Jones, has been appointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair. Peterson has been president at Jo Peterson Design Works since 1993 and was owner of Jo Peterson and Associates from 1974 to 1993. She is a member of the Siskiyou County Sherriff’s Search and Rescue Team, the International Code Council and the American Civil Liberties Union. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Peterson is a Democrat.

Jennifer Coile, 58, of Hollister, has been appointed to the 33rd District Agricultural Association, San Benito County Fair Board. Coile has been a technical assistance provider at Training and Development Associates Inc. since 2011 and a project manager and interim housing coordinator at the City of Marina Economic Development Division since 2006. She was a National Environmental Policy Act specialist at Pinnacles National Monument from 2008 to 2009. Coile was a contract housing planner at the City of Sunnyvale Housing Division from 2003 to 2007 and city manager of the City of San Juan Bautista from 2005 to 2006. She was a transportation planner at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area from 2000 to 2002 and assistant cultural affairs officer at the U.S. Information Agency and U.S. Department of State from 1995 to 2000. Coile was a transportation planner with the City of Burbank Advance Planning Division from 1992 to 1995. She is a member of Pinnacles Partnership, El Teatro Campesino, Hollister Art League and Slow Food San Benito Bounty. Coile earned a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from Harvard University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Coile is a Democrat.

Stan Pura, 56, of Hollister, has been appointed to the 33rd District Agricultural Association, San Benito County Fair Board. Pura has been managing partner at Mission Ranches since 1985. He is a member of the North County Joint Unified School District Board, San Benito County Farm Bureau and Western Growers Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Pura is a Republican.

Paul Rovella, 35, of Hollister, has been appointed to the 33rd District Agricultural Association, San Benito County Fair. Rovella has been an attorney at L+G LLP since 2006. He serves as vice chair of the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau. Rovella is a member of the Grower-Shipper Association of the Central Coast, Sacred Heart Parish School Board of Limited Jurisdiction and the San Benito County Farm Bureau. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Rovella is a Republican.
