Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Robert Schmidt, 48, of Fair Oaks, has been appointed chief of the Office of Technology Services at the California Department of Technology. Schmidt has been agency chief information officer in the Office of Information Technology Services at the California Department of Food and Agriculture since 2011. He was principal of statewide information technology consolidation at the California Department of Technology from 2009 to 2011 and a system software specialist at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1999 to 2009 and at the California Department of Technology from 1996 to 1999, where he was an associate system software specialist from 1995 to 1996. Schmidt was a programmer at the California Department of Health Care Services from 1994 to 1995. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University, Sacramento. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $138,288. Schmidt is a Democrat.

King Gee, 67, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Professional Fiduciaries Advisory Committee. Gee was assistant director of intergovernmental affairs at the California Department of Social Services from 1997 to 2006, where he was regulatory director of life care and continuing care retirement communities for seniors from 1992 to 1997. Gee was a housing finance specialist at the California Housing Finance Agency from 1988 to 1992 and a budget officer at the U.S. Department of Energy Western Area Power Administration from 1984 to 1988. Gee is a member of the Asian Community Center of Sacramento Valley board and president of the Northern California Education Foundation. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree in management from Golden Gate University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Gee is registered without party preference.

LaQuita Wallace, 49, of West Sacramento, has been appointed to the California State Rehabilitation Council. Wallace has been a human resources specialist at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation since 2011. She was a human resources specialist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2008 to 2011 and at the U.S. Geological Survey from 2004 to 2008, where she was a human resources assistant from 2002 to 2004. Wallace was a program coordinator at Peregrine Systems from 2000 to 2001, a contracts administrator at American Tower Corporation from 1999 to 2000, a project coordinator at Xoma Corporation from 1998 to 1999 and an administrative assistant at Remedy Personnel in 1998. She was a housing manager at the U.S. Navy Public Works Center, San Francisco Bay Area in 1997, where she was a housing management assistant from 1989 to 1997, a computer specialist from 1994 to 1995, a manpower personnel support clerk from 1986 to 1989 and a personnel clerk from 1985 to 1986. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wallace is a Democrat.
