Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Michelle Dove, 48, of Hanford, has been appointed to the State Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention. Dove has been head start child development director at the Kings Community Action Organization since 2014, where she has held several positions since 2001, including head start program manager, head start site manager and early head start site supervisor. She was a site supervisor at the West Hills Community College District from 2003 to 2004. Dove is a member of the National Association for Family Child Care, National Head Start Association and the Kings County Local Child Care Planning Council. She earned a Master of Arts degree in organizational leadership from Fresno Pacific University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Dove is a Republican.

Marie Kanne Poulsen, 76, of Pasadena, has been appointed to the State Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention. Poulsen has been associate director of the University of Southern California, University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities since 2015, a professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine since 1998 and chief psychologist at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Division of General Pediatrics since 1995. She was a teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District from 1961 to 1963. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, World Association for Infant Mental Health and the Infant Development Association of California. Poulsen earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in exceptional children and psychology from the University of Southern California. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Poulsen is registered without party preference.
