Governor Brown to Sign Historic Climate Legislation Tomorrow in Los Angeles

9-7-2016

LOS ANGELES – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will join legislative, environmental, business and community leaders tomorrow in Los Angeles to sign historic legislation – SB 32 by Senator Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills) and AB 197 by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) – that advances the state’s nation-leading effort to cut carbon pollution and support communities hardest hit by climate change.

When: Tomorrow, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Media must arrive by 10:45 a.m.
Where: Vista Hermosa Natural Park. Please enter the park using the North Gate, Vista Terrace at Colton and North Bixel, Los Angeles, CA 90026

SB 32 codifies the goals Governor Brown set forth by executive order last year to establish a statewide emissions reduction target of 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030 – the most aggressive benchmark enacted by any government in North America.

California is on track to meet or exceed the current target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, as established in the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32). This 2030 goal will help make it possible to reach the ultimate goal of reducing emissions 80 percent under 1990 levels by 2050.

**Note: This event is open to credentialed media and invited guests only.
