SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:
Timothy Perry, 40, of Los Angeles, has been appointed chief of staff in the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. Perry has been an adjunct professor at the Pepperdine University School of Law since 2018. He was counsel at Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr LLP from 2014 to 2018, an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of California from 2008 to 2014, and an associate at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP from 2007 to 2008. Perry served as a law clerk for the Honorable Peter W. Hall at the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit from 2006 to 2007. He is a member of the Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel. Perry earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and a Master of Science degree in political studies from the University of Cape Town. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $159,456. Perry is a Democrat.
Peter Stern, 43, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Workforce Development Board. Stern has been senior vice president of corporate development at Inxeption since 2017 and airport commissioner for the San Francisco International Airport since 2010. He was chief revenue officer at Skedulo from 2015 to 2017 and at AutopilotHQ Inc. from 2013 to 2015, vice president of enterprise corporate sales at Salesforce.com from 2007 to 2011, and regional manager at Oracle Corporation from 2004 to 2007. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Stern is registered without party preference.
Gloria Young, 69, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Workforce Development Board. Young has been president and chief executive officer at Young and Lamay Associates since 2007. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Young is a Democrat.
