Governor Newsom Announces Appointments 6.26.19

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:

Jeffrey Macomber, 49, of Sacramento, has been appointed undersecretary of administration at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He has been director of corrections services at California Health Care Correctional Services since 2019. Macomber served as deputy director of facility support in the Division of Adult Institutions at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2016 to 2018. He was warden at California State Prison, Sacramento from 2014 until 2016, chief deputy warden from 2009 to 2014 and associate warden from 2008 to 2009. He held several other positions at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2004 to 2008 and from 1994 to 2000, including correctional administrator, captain, staff services manager and associate governmental programs analyst. Macomber was a correctional business manager at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center from 2000 to 2004 and a correctional officer at Ironwood State Prison from 1993 to 1994. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $189,456. Macomber is a Republican.

Kenneth Pogue, 51, of Shingle Springs, has been appointed director of the Office of Administrative Law. Pogue has served as undersecretary of administration of offender services at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation since 2015. He was assistant secretary at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Office of Legislation from 2013 to 2015. Pogue served as a deputy attorney general at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General from 1999 to 2008. He was an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Porter, Scott, Weiberg and Delehant from 1997 to 1999, a contract attorney at the Law Office of Robert Tronvig in 1997 and a contract district attorney in the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office in 1996. Pogue earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $179,796. Pogue is a Democrat.
