SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom released the following statement today regarding the Supreme Court of the United States’ decision to hear the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) case in their next term:
“President Trump’s attacks on the DACA program have kept over 200,000 Californian DACA recipients and their families living with fear and uncertainty about their future. While we are hopeful that the Supreme Court will bring justice to the young people who contribute deeply to our state and nation, the Senate and President Trump must take action now through H.R. 6. In California, we will continue to stand behind DACA recipients. Every day they demonstrate resilience and a will to succeed in the face of federal hostility. They represent the best of us and their future should not be hanging in the balance.”
