TOMORROW: Governor Newsom to Speak at 17th Annual California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO — Governor Gavin Newsom will deliver remarks at the 17th Annual California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony in the California State Capitol Park on Saturday, September 28. This year, the names of 34 firefighters from across the state will be added to the memorial. Three of the firefighters being honored died in the line of duty during last year’s devastating wildfires.

“The 34 heroes we add to this memorial wall served in different eras, for different departments, and hailed from different walks of life, but they all shared the same heart of a public servant, and they bravely made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Governor Newsom. “With so many of their fellow Californians in danger, firefighters all over our state leapt into action, risking their own lives to save others, and we honor them, their families, friends and communities.”
