California Secures Federal Assistance to Support Tick Fire Response

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that the state has secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help ensure the availability of resources to fight the Tick Fire burning in Los Angeles County. The grant also enables local, state and tribal agencies to recover eligible costs.

“This assistance provides vital support for our response to the fast-moving Tick Fire, which has already threatened hundreds of homes and forced the evacuation of thousands of residents,” said Governor Newsom. “I urge all impacted residents to stay safe and up to date on evacuation information.”

The Fire Management Assistance Grant will assist local, state and tribal agencies responding to the fire to apply for 75-percent reimbursement of their eligible fire suppression costs.
