TOMORROW: Governor Newsom to Honor Public Safety Officials in 16th Annual Medal of Valor Awards

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom will present three public safety officials who went above and beyond the call of duty with the Medal of Valor during the 16th annual awards on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. The honorees come from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, and the San Diego Police Department.

The Governor will be joined by Attorney General Xavier Becerra.

The Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor Act of 2003 gives the Governor authority to award medals to public safety officers who are recognized by the Attorney General for extraordinary valor above and beyond the call of duty. The Attorney General’s Office receives nominations from public safety agencies. This year, 36 nominations were submitted.
