Today: Governor Newsom to Visit Hospital in LA County Administering One of the First Pfizer Vaccines

LOS ANGELES COUNTY — As California begins receiving doses of the Pfizer vaccine, a pivotal moment in the fight against COVID-19, Governor Gavin Newsom will visit a Los Angeles County hospital this afternoon that will administer some of the first doses to health care workers.

Following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine Friday, the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup yesterday completed their concurrent and thorough review of the federal process and confirmed the vaccine is safe and efficacious. The Workgroup provided their confirmation to the Governors of California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
