TODAY: In Contra Costa County, Governor Newsom to Lift Up Gun Violence Prevention and Public Safety Efforts 

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY – Governor Gavin Newsom will hold a media availability in Contra Costa County today after visiting with members of a community-led program supporting at-risk youth that is funded by the California Violence Intervention and Prevention (CalVIP) Grant Program.

The Governor is proposing a $200 million investment in the CalVIP program, which was created through legislation he signed in 2019 to support evidence-based local initiatives designed to break the cycle of violence in disproportionately impacted communities, among other public safety investments by the Governor.
