TODAY: Governor Newsom to Visit Clean California Sites in Los Angeles County

Published:

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Governor Gavin Newsom will travel to Clean California sites in Los Angeles County today as multiple Caltrans crews deploy around Los Angeles for a daylong series of coordinated clean-ups. The Governor will highlight the progress made to date under the $1.1 billion initiative to revitalize California’s streets and public spaces through litter abatement and local beautification projects.

Clean California will remove 1.2 million cubic yards of trash from state highways each year – up from 270,000 cubic yards in 2020 – and create thousands of jobs, including for people exiting homelessness, at-risk youth, veterans, formerly incarcerated individuals, local artists and students. It is complemented by Governor Newsom’s comprehensive $12 billion homelessness plan to implement bold, transformative solutions to shelter, stabilize and keep people from returning to the streets. Earlier this month, the Newsom Administration announced the availability of almost $300 million in local grants for Clean California projects throughout the state.
