SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – As California emerges from the Omicron surge, Governor Gavin Newsom will tomorrow outline the next phase of the state’s comprehensive pandemic response. Building on lessons learned over the past two years and commitment to equity, the plan will guide the state’s strategic approach to managing COVID-19, with a focus on continued readiness, awareness and flexibility to adapt to the evolving pandemic.
California has led the nation’s fight against COVID-19 with early, robust public health measures that have saved countless lives. As part of his COVID-19 Emergency Response Package to bolster the state’s ongoing response, the Governor last week signed a $1.9 billion early action measure to supplement vaccination and testing efforts, support workers, strengthen the health care system and combat misinformation. The state has administered more than 70 million vaccinations and boosters and during the Omicron surge, ramped up testing capacity at an unprecedented speed.
