Governor Newsom issues legislative update 8.28.25

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he has signed the following bills:

  • AB 463 by Assemblymember Michelle Rodriguez (D-Ontario) – Emergency medical services: dogs and cats.
  • AB 829 by Assemblymember LaShae Sharp-Collins (D-San Diego) – Richard Paul Hemann Parkinson’s Disease Program: Parkinson’s Disease Research Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund.
  • SB 510 by Senator Laura Richardson (D-South Bay) – Pupil instruction: treatment of African Americans.
  • SB 621 by Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) – Voter registration: military and overseas voters.
  • SB 856 by the Committee on Natural Resources and Water: California Coastal Act of 1976: filing fee waiver: Marine Invasive Species Act: biennial reports: semiannual updates.

The Governor also announced that he has vetoed the following bill:

  • AB 1387 by Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (D-Fullerton): Behavioral health multidisciplinary personnel team. A veto message can be found here.
