Governor Newsom pre-deploys resources ahead of potential storm impacts in Imperial and San Bernardino counties

SAN BERNARDINO – Governor Gavin Newsom today approved the prepositioning of fire and rescue resources in Imperial and San Bernardino counties in response to extreme weather conditions forecast to impact the areas starting Thursday, October 9 through Saturday, October 11, 2025. The remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla are expected to bring rainfall and impact Southern California.

These efforts ensure that resources are ready to respond quickly, minimizing the potential impacts. Resources being prepositioned include a total of four fire engines, one handcrew, one dispatcher, one loader and one bulldozer, and an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) with 2 support personnel.

Local fire agencies are identifying conditions in communities that may require additional resources and can submit requests to the state for support. The staging locations and response assignments are coordinated by local officials.
