SACRAMENTO – Today, California announced the latest data showing the state’s speedy acceleration toward zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) and ZEV market dominance:
- 17.7% of all new cars sold in California are ZEVs, according to the California Energy Commission
- The ZEV share of sales is up 42.7% from 2021 and 126.9% from 2020
- Latest estimates show ZEV sales were 4.9% of all U.S. car sales in Q3 of 2021
- 250,486 ZEV sales in California in 2022
- 1,304,581 cumulative ZEV sales in California
- 42.6% of ZEVs sold in the U.S. sold in California, based on estimates from Veloz
- 79,023 shared electric vehicle chargers installed in California (both public and private)
- Up to $9,500 in grants & rebates available for low-income Californians (learn more here)
