Governor Newsom issues legislative update 9.30.24

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he has signed the following bills:

  • AB 1113 by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) – California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System: expanded learning opportunity programs.
  • AB 1775 by Assemblymember Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) – Cannabis: retail preparation, sale, and consumption of noncannabis food and beverage products. A signing message can be found here.
  • AB 1778 by Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) – Vehicles: electric bicycles.
  • AB 2106 by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) – Probation.
  • AB 2515 by Assemblymember Diane Papan (D-San Mateo) – Menstrual products: perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
  • AB 2684 by Assemblymember Isaac Bryan (D-Los Angeles) – Safety element: extreme heat.
  • SB 242 by Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) – California Hope, Opportunity, Perseverance, and Empowerment (HOPE) for Children Trust Account Program.
  • SB 422 by Senator Anthony Portantino (D-Burbank) – Unemployment compensation: motion picture industry: loan-out companies.
  • SB 1069 by Senator Caroline Menjivar (D-San Fernando Valley/Burbank) – State prisons: Office of the Inspector General.
  • SB 1070 by Senator Steve Padilla (D-San Diego) – Health care district: County of Imperial.
  • SB 1091 by Senator Caroline Menjivar (D-San Fernando Valley/Burbank) – School facilities: school projects: accessible path of travel requirements.
  • SB 1103 by Senator Caroline Menjivar (D-San Fernando Valley/Burbank) – Tenancy of commercial real properties: agreements: building operating costs.
  • SB 1112 by Senator Caroline Menjivar (D-San Fernando Valley/Burbank) – Childcare: alternative payment programs.
  • SB 1243 by Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) – Campaign contributions: agency officers.

 The Governor also announced that he has vetoed the following bills:

  • AB 274 by Assemblymember Isaac Bryan (D-Los Angeles) – CalWORKs: CalFresh: eligibility: income exclusions. A veto message can be found here.
